Dive Schedule:

As a general rule we hope to dive on most weekends between February and October. This would usually be on the Sunday but can be changed to suit weather or members' wishes. Final arrangements are made as regards a launching site and dive destinations on our Wednesday meetings. All members are welcome to come on most diving trips but would less qualified members please make their intentions known as soon as possible so that certain dives can be incorporated to suit their experience. If we are using the boat this may include being picked up at a different location to our launch site.

As a default contact as regards diving please use Phil, our Diving Officer. Alternatively if you see from the dive planner that someone else is organising the event then please contact them direct. Yet again, you could always use Yahoo Groups to make your intentions known.

Besides the normal weekend dives we also organise other events such as weekends away or dives for specific qualifications or experience - these will be noted on our Dive-Planner so please check it regularly. Could you contact Colin with any additions, ommissions or mistakes. The Planner is available on the Right Hand column or click below:

Dive Log 2011

Club Dive Sunday March 26 2011

Great weather and calm seas presented us with the rare opportunity to visit the seals at 'The smalls' lighthouse off Pembroke. The divers present were Nick, Chris, Colin, John and Jackie.

Two great 40 minute dives were made at 'The smalls' where the viz was very good for the time of year (5m+), the sea temp about 8deg and plenty of sea life on display, lobster, prawns, cuckoo wrasse, crabs of all varieties and the usual dead mens figers adorning the rocks, unfortunately the seals did not join us today. Even the solitary dolphin we saw on the way back ignored us!

We then selected adventure mode and successfully located 'The Dirina', a deep wreck sitting in 60m and rising up 15/20m from the sea bed. Plans are being made to make a dive on this world war one wreck later in the season if conditions allow.

We then made dives on the 'Behar' within Milford Haven.. The wreck was located easily using the transits and echo sounder and a shot placed. The wreck was found to be fairly recognisable as a ship and we clearly identified the bow area, bridge, boiler and steering gear including a small steam engine that would have powered the rudder. There were large rolls of cable on display and in one location several large gas bottles that have laid intact at the bottom of Milford since 1941.

All in all an excellent day and thank you to my fellow divers that made the day possible and to Nick for planning and organising.

To those that dont know 'The Smalls trip is pretty much the most expensive trip the club undertakes due to the amount of fuel used. Dont let the cost of this trip put you off from future visits, we only had 5 on board but can do it with 7 which will reduce cost considerably.

Cost for the day out was £48.00 excl. air

Club Dive Sunday 13th March 2011

Just an update on our dive today. Left at 7-30 am - Chris organised the dive out of Gellywick with 6 divers on board. Chris, Nick, Aled (who has now joined the club), Mark (L), JAC and Colin. The clouds cleared to give us a sunny day and although the forcast was medium winds it calmed down nicely to allow us to get to the Lucy. Someone had taken the buoy off the wreck so we had to spend a little time locating it before dropping a shotline. Dark and eerie but still a good dive.

Also dived the Dead-eye wreck on Skomer and then tha Dakotian on the way home. Arrived home about 6.30 pm. Another good diving day.

Cost for the dayout was £33.00 excl air.

Club Dive Saturday 5th March 2011

Took Kitty Sock out for its first diving trip of the season, on board were Nick, Chris, Mark (L), Jac and Colin. Having broken off all the ice on the deck of the boat we launched from Gellyswick and headed off in search of H.M.S. Barking in Mill Bay. Couldn't find the wreck this time but is added to our "To Dive" list for the year.

Next headed over to Skokholm to dive the Alice Williams, followed by another dive below Skokholm lighthouse. Before returning to Milford with a dive on the Greek on the way home. The viz was suprisingly good for so early in the season (3-4 metres in places)and with kind weather, plenty of sunshine and calm seas an excellent day was had by everyone. All bodes well for a good season's diving.

Cost for the dayout was £34.00 excl air.
